What to Expect
It will be a weekend to connect with others to storytell, find commoradorie and be supported. Everything on the agenda is optional, and you'll be able to move into spaces that feel right to you as time evolves. Our team of skilled practitioners will be there for you to lean on for grounding, therapeutic moments (with Jenny), hugs, Reiki (from Krista) or a listening ear. It is time to live in a world where western society normalizes extended periods of time to process grief. These 4 days will create shifts and nudges to honor your grief so that you can move with more effortless flow in your life. This experience will feel like you're in a liminal space - a space between time and reality. A space of transition. Due to this, we highly recommend taking a day or two off of work after the retreat to reconnect with the usual pace of your everyday life. Doing so will allow you to continue to process it all, while increasing its impact. |
Retreat Description
Grief often feels... tender. It needs nurturing, nurishment, support and space to just be. Grief lives in our entire being - mind, body, spirit. It can cross lifetimes. It has a visceral effect on our nervous systems. Grief tugs differently for each experience and each human. Grieving is a spectrum. The process of moving past grief is uniquely defined. Because it can be painful and uncomfortable, it is common to avoid dealing with it. And then all of a sudden, it seeps into pieces of our lives and can cause moments of overwhelm. The feeling of being "stuck" is common after a greif-evoking trauma. No matter who you are, or where you are at in your grieving journey, this opportunity is here to meet & hold you where you're at. This retreat is designed for anyone grieving - whether that's a loss of life, relationship, land, species, trauma or otherwise. This is a weekend to be held, nourished and inspired. Join a collective of nature-led, soul-seeking healers for four days and three nights of grief tending. Slow down to nourish your mind, body and spirit all the while experiencing the feeling of being "held in a container" of support. Create space for little shifts during the retreat that will ripple into waves of personal growth. Give your whole body a nervous system reset with deep nature connection, yoga, sound healing, somatic grounding exercises, professionally curated farm to table meals, and time spent with people who understand. Let the land help you heal while the facilitation team opens little doors of entry to processing & grief tending. Held in Wild Rose, Wisconsin at a private cabin on a lake surrounded by beautiful groves of evergreens. There is space for 15 people to join together in community. Expect to laugh, cry, process, play, have fun, connect, celebrate growth & be any way you need to be. Registration Information
Prior to the event, you will need to fill out health & waiver forms. 1-2 weeks prior to the retreat, you will receive an welcome email with an items to bring list, FAQs, driving directions and more logistical information to help with travel arrangements. Jenny Hayes is a somatic psychotherapist, nature enthusiast, retreat leader, sacred circle facilitator, and student of spiritual wisdom practices. She owns her own private practice in Madison, WI called Wander Within Wellness. She believes in the authenticity of self that can be remembered and cultivated in community with fellow self explorers. In her work as a therapist over the past 15 years she has deepened her understanding of how we hold experiences in our body. She invites others to slow down, create space, and practice skills to come alongside ones' nervous system as the story of the body unfolds. In this space of digesting and metabolizing the joys and sorrows, triumphs and obstacles of this human experience we grow more deeply connected to our true nature and resilient heart. She considers herself a woodland wanderer, feeling into and trusting the natural wisdom keepers and guides in the more than human world. She enjoys facilitating group circles; honoring the importance of creating a sacred space for depthful exploration and powerful inspiration. She likes to laugh, dance, listen to 90's R&B or Dolly Parton when she cooks, play cards while wearing visors, and frolic with her husband and two sons. Play and Awe are two of her most current teachers.
Moira Farrell has been a certified educator in the field of Wellness for over 10 years. She teaches youth and adults the power of play through opportunities rooted in mindfulness and deep nature connection. She holds certifications in kayaking and yoga to name a few, guides forest bathing walks for youth and adults. She is the owner and operator of Hike and Heal Wellness where she curates educational adventures to inspire personal growth. She is highly intuitive and uses this skill to craft creative programming that allows people to actualize their full potential. Significant personal hurdles and losses provide a drive for the work that she does surrounding mental and emotional well-being, and will directly weave into this retreat. She thrives on connection, loves to be silly and plays often. When she isn't teaching, you will find her spending time with her spouse, daughters and dogs. Likely they're dancing, playing games, adventuring, giggling or relaxing with a good show.

Mandy Cullen is a personal chef and has been running Nourishment, her Madison-based personal chef business, for the past 7 years. The gift of helping people come to the table to spend time together has been a deeply fulfilling reward for her entrepreneurial efforts. And while she still finds much joy in bringing people together around the table- especially over food, she has also expanded her passions + pursuits to nature-based spiritual practices, including her beloved ceremonial tea practice. After developing + deepening her daily personal practice over the past few years, she has begun to share the ritual of tea with her community, and has found it to be a meaningful experience that provides many with medicine for the heart + spirit. The best thing about tea is that there is nothing you need to know or be or do to sit with tea, it's simply about being. It's for everybody. When Mandy isn't cooking or gathering folks together, she can be found hiking the trails at Prairie Moraine with her furry sidekick, Olive, connecting with her besties over coffee + brunch, or building a fire + reading a book in her new apartment in her dream neighborhood.
From All of Us
We know how important this work is, and do not take it lightly. All of us have experienced deep grief in various ways, and regularly lead wellness events on our own, or in collaboration with others. Our personalities effortlessly gel, and it shows when we work together. We bring fun, levity and joy to our work, so be ready to laugh and learn through a bit of play! A thread that connects us is the dependency the four of us experience through extended time in nature. We actively seek it out for optimal health and fulfillment in our personal lives. Additionally, we are all highly intuitive and will be guiding this retreat leaning into that, knowing the agenda may need to shift based on the needs of the group. We are excited to meet you, are honored to be part of your grieving journey, and will be here for you during and even after the retreat is over.
