What to Expect
It will be a weekend to connect with others to storytell, find commoradorie and be supported. Everything on the agenda is optional, and you'll be able to move into spaces that feel right to you as time evolves. Our team of skilled practitioners will be there for you to lean on for grounding, therapeutic moments (with Sarah), hugs, Reiki (from Mo), Shamanic guidance aligned with Spirit (from Jessica) or a listening ear. It is time to live in a world where western society normalizes extended periods of time to process grief. These 4 days will create shifts and nudges to honor your grief so that you can move with more effortless flow in your life. This experience will feel like you're in a liminal space - a space between time and reality. A space of transition. Due to this, we highly recommend taking a day or two off of work after the retreat to reconnect with the usual pace of your everyday life. Doing so will allow you to continue to process it all, while increasing its impact. |
Retreat Description
Grief often feels... tender. It needs nurturing, nurishment, support and space to just be. Grief lives in our entire being - mind, body, spirit. It can cross lifetimes. It has a visceral effect on our nervous systems. Grief tugs differently for each experience and each human. Grieving is a spectrum. The process of moving past grief is uniquely defined. Because it can be painful and uncomfortable, it is common to avoid dealing with it. And then all of a sudden, it seeps into pieces of our lives and can cause moments of overwhelm. The feeling of being "stuck" is common after a greif-evoking trauma. No matter who you are, or where you are at in your grieving journey, this opportunity is here to meet & hold you where you're at. This retreat is designed for anyone grieving - whether that's a loss of life, relationship, land, species, trauma, eco-grief or otherwise. This is a weekend to be held, nourished and inspired. Join a collective of nature-led, soul-seeking healers for four days and three nights of grief tending. Slow down to nourish your mind, body and spirit all the while experiencing the feeling of being "held in a container" of support. Create space for little shifts during the retreat that will ripple into waves of personal growth. Give your whole body a nervous system reset with deep nature connection, Yoga Nidra, sound healing, journeying practices, somatic grounding exercises, professionally curated farm to table meals, and time spent with people who understand. Let the land help you heal while the facilitation team opens little doors of entry to process & tend your grief. Registration Information
Prior to the event, you will need to fill out health & waiver forms which will be sent out (along with other housekeeping items) 2 weeks prior to the retreat. It is then that you will receive a welcome email with an items to bring list, FAQs, driving directions and more logistical information to help with travel arrangements. A few days out, you'll receive a final update with expected weather and any weather plans. Questions? Email Moira and she'll be happy to help you. |

Dr. Sarah Moore, MD is a psychiatrist in Madison, Wisconsin who received her medical degree from University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She has been in practice for more than 20 years. As a physician and psychiatrist who has evolved into a healer, mystic and therapist, her approach to mental and emotional well-being is deeply rooted in both science and spirit. Over the years, Sarah's practice has expanded to integrate traditional psychiatric methods with holistic, soul-centered interventions. She believes that every person is unique, and as such, deserves a tailored approach to healing. At times, this may involve Western medications when necessary, but it often leads her to more intuitive and spiritually transformative practices like meditation, energy healing, and mindfulness. Her work centers on helping individuals navigate life’s challenges in a way that honors both their psychological and spiritual dimensions. Being with grief herself and helping people navigate life through grief is integral to her work. In 2024, Sarah was not "supposed" to be our resident Doctor on site. But as life would have it, we were in need of a medical professional to support this retreat. She walked into Moira's life at the perfect time and offered an incredible workshop on nervous system integration, co-regulation, Yoga Nidra and chanting. In 2025, she will be co-leading the retreat with Moira and Jessica to deliver even deeper results for guest participants.

Jessica Riphenburg will be supporting ceremony, ritual and journeying work throughout the Grief Tending Retreat. She is passionate about nurturing her community through offering sacred ceremonies, transformational retreats & personalized healing sessions to support your soul’s evolution. She has trained in both Core & Peruvian shamanism, and has been walking this path since 2011. Jessica brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in creating community connection, lifting confidence and helping the receiver trust their intuitive guidance through grief work. You can learn more about her via her website at Be The Light Shamanism.
Testimonial: “I registered for the Winter Sacred Rhythms Immersion (2025) because traditional therapy wasn't cutting it for me. My intuition and cognitive brain weren't in alignment and it was causing my nervous system to overreact in a lot of small relational situations. Jessica is an incredible facilitator and practitioner of sacred work. After the first two day retreats, I noticed I was calmer and less reactive. I experienced a massive about of healing for the trauma I was intentionally trying to overcome. Additionally, she gave me tools to use for the rest of my life. The entire experience was fun, playful, deeply insightful and meaningful as it was done in community. I loved every part and highly recommend the experience to anyone looking to strengthen their spirituality, overcome trauma and grief, or even just to play with their intuition. If was through this immersion that it dawned on me - I have to invite Jessica to take part in my Grief Tending Retreat!" - Moira Farrell, Owner of Hike and Heal Wellness

From All of Us
We know how important this work is, and do not take it lightly. All of us have experienced deep grief in various ways, and regularly lead wellness events on our own, or in collaboration with others. Our personalities effortlessly gel, and it shows when we work together. We bring fun, levity and joy to our work, so be ready to laugh and learn through a bit of play! A thread that connects us is the dependency the four of us experience through extended time in nature. We actively seek it out for optimal health and fulfillment in our personal lives. Additionally, we are all highly intuitive and will be guiding this retreat leaning into that, knowing the agenda may need to shift based on the needs of the group. We are excited to meet you, are honored to be part of your grieving journey, and will be here for you during and even after the retreat is over.
