April 24-25, 2021 | This experience is for families of all varieties. Kate Bast, Certified ANFT Guide from Shinrin-Yoku Madison is teaming up with Hike and Heal Wellness for a weekend of nature connection, exploration and family fun. Take a deep breath and full body stretch as you shake off winter’s dust and come out of hibernation. As your guides, we will help facilitate a deep connection - with your family, the land and your truest self. Through this experience, you will be able to benefit from new and refreshing ways to interact with one another and our outer landscape. Parents & children will receive time away from each other (if preferred) for self-care, and then come back together for tons of memory-making, fun. Parents will also receive a hands-on workshop on the benefits of nature connection as it relates to healthy child development. Join us and celebrate Earth Day 2021 by being fully immersed in all that nature has to offer!
The Important DetailsDates: April 25 - 26, 2020
Times: Arrive by 9am Saturday and leave by 12pm Sunday Location: Indian Lake County Park Group Site Price: $175 for a family of 2-3 people, or $275 for a family of 4-5 people. We are willing to work with most ages. Children who can be on their own with an adult educator (4+) are preferred. If you bring children younger, just be prepared to explore with them! It is equally as fun. Email Moira with questions. Sleeping: Family Camping at Indian Lake County Park: bring a tent or use one of ours. Just let us know your needs. This is an all elements weekend. Rustic outhouse, no platforms, real camping. We'll be your cooks, or if your family has specific dietary restrictions and would rather do your own food, we can provide a discount for that. Also- if you'd like to partake in all activities BUT camping - that is also an option. Tell us what you need and we will try our best to make it happen! Cell phone / device policy: leave it in your car! Show your family how to unplug. Even more fun, print a map to get to our location and leave it at home! Tell your extended family and friends where you are going and check in when you return home. Your guides will provide you with their cell phone numbers so your family can get ahold of us if needed. Cancellation Policy: This is a rain or shine event. If forecast shows storms that would make it unsafe to be outside, we will still have an alternate plan (there are shelters to use at our site for group work for protection from the elements) for that weekend at the same location. If you should need to cancel, please see our cancellation policy. |

What to Expect
Hike and Heal Wellness joins forces with Shinrin-Yoku Madison to offer an immersive experience into the forests of Indian Lake County Park. Birds will be migrating back, saying hello with their beautiful songs, mud will make for great tracking conditions and greenery will inspire excitement in the spring season. We will explore and open the senses! This experience will be enriching, relaxing, soothing and oh-so-needed in our overstressed society. "Nature is the healer, the guide opens the door." Kate and Moira will be your guides, offering sensory invitations to ignite the childlike state of mind as well as awaken the pleasures of presence to find beauty and awe.
Be prepared for gentle movement, days in nature on unpaved trails -- sometimes going just a short distance, others perhaps a couple of miles -- periods of silence and stillness, laughter, joy, grief (yes -- sometimes seeing things in nature invites grief, which is normal human nature and provides a great sense of release) and space to connect with others just like you who put a high value on their relationship with the earth and the vast web of interbeing.
