What to Expect
Let "nature be the healer" while Kate & Moira guide you into finding community, a sense of wonder & so much more. Late winter & early spring is such a wonderful time to be outside in nature! Things become clearer with mostly barren trees and dead brush, so we get to be extra curious with our footsteps, taking us closer to our discoveries. With spring approaching, we get to revel in the excitement of more bird songs and growing buds on trees. We will offer a wide variety of invitations to build community, spark curiosity, ground in gratitude and most of all - play! After you are greeted, checked-in and participate in our community nature game we will circle up to introduce the practice of Forest Therapy, also known as Forest Bathing. From here we split into two groups (kids and adults), explore separately for a while to drop in and then come back together to share in the delight that nature provides. We end with a community tea ceremony to celebrate in community while offering gratitude to the land, those that tended/preserved/cared for it and each other.
The Details
Event Date: TBD
Duration: 1-3pm Location: TBD based on weather Meeting Spot: TBD based on weather Items to Bring Be prepared for long periods of stillness. You want to have enough layers on so that over the course of two hours you aren't itching to leave due to unprepared coldness. Allow yourself to be as comfortable as possible by layering your clothing and dressing warm. You can always take layers off. Parents of Teens & Tweens- be firm :) Even if it's 50 degrees, the wind will likely be coming off of the lake. Gloves, hat & several layers on top and bottom are highly encouraged. Waiver Forms Please fill out the electronic Family Event Waiver here. Waivers are required for participation. Filling them out ahead of time 1) saves the environment by cutting down on printing paper and 2) saves time/stress before the walk Any Questions? Email Kate or Moira! |
Rain Date: In the event that the forecast calls for rain or high winds, all registrants will be notified via email at least a day in advance that the walk will be rescheduled for another time at the same location within 1 week.
Arrival Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the walk to ensure we start and end on time for all! Upon arrival, you will check in to ensure waiver forms are covered for your family & everyone is wearing the proper attire. From there, you'll be invited to play a community game to get us in the mindset of the way of the forest. Ages If your kids are 5 or younger, please be prepared to tag along and play with the kid group when we split! Donations This donation-based event is a sneak peak to our Family Forest Fun Camping Trips. All donations received will go towards a scholarship fund to offer fee reductions for families camp weekends. Come experience what forest therapy can give you and your loved ones! |
